Founding the company
Alain Poiraud, a career sailor and inventor of the Spade anchor, founded and set up his company in Monastir, Tunisia. His company name SPADE was actually a natural abbreviation of ‘Société de Production d'Accastillage et Divers Équipements’ (production company for ship chandlery and other equipment).
New image, new premises
Sea Tech & Fun decided to acquire SPADE’s assets, which were essentially the staff and expertise, as well as the exclusive rights to use Spade’s patents. The SPADE company was then liquidated.
Under the direction of the new team, Sea Tech & Fun aimed to rebuild the Spade brand’s reputation and win back recreational sailors. After moving to more suitable premises, major investments were made in the production facility, the quality criteria were overhauled, the customer service improved and the delivery times for anchors in stock were shortened.
The birth of Sea Tech & Fun Europe
Sea Tech & Fun created its European platform in the south of France, in Arcs-sur-Argens. This was the beginning of Sea Tech & Fun Europe, placing it nearer its customers and consequently enabling faster response times. Fabien Martin assumed the management of this unit.
Workshops: the heart of Spade anchors
All our Spade anchors are created in our factory. Our team comprises over 20 highly qualified employees, all driven by the same passion for precision. Of course, our manufacturing and inspection processes adhere to extremely strict specifications in order to deliver outstanding quality. All manufacturing takes place under the watchful eye of our team leaders and has done so since our company was founded. In order to offer our customers short delivery times, we have opted for just-in-time production. And here at Spade Anchor, every anchor is:
